**Mathematical Structures of Epidemic Systems epub download by Vincenzo Capasso**

Mathematical modelling of communicable diseases has in the past decades been the subject of intense research activity, on the part of both epidemiologists and biomathematicians; nonlinear forces of infection, spatial structure, age structure and other rel...

**Set Theory. An Introduction to Independence Proofs download pdf by Kenneth Kunen**

Many branches of abstract mathematics have been affected by the modern independence proofs in set theory. This book provides an introduction to relative consistency proofs in axiomatic set theory, and is intended to be used as a text in beginning graduate...

**C++ for Mathematicians free download by Scheinerman E.**

For problems that require extensive computation, a C++ program can race through billions of examples faster than most other computing choices. C++ enables mathematicians of virtually any discipline to create programs to meet their needs quickly, and is av...

**Anatomy of Flowering Plants: An Introduction to Structure and Development epub download by Paula J. Rudall**

In the third edition of her successful textbook, Paula Rudall provides a comprehensive yet succinct introduction to the anatomy of flowering plants. Thoroughly revised and updated throughout, the book covers all aspects of comparative plant structure and ...

**Discrete Mathematical Structures free pdf by Bernard Kolman, Robert C. Busby, Sharon Cutler Ross**

More than any other book in this field, this book ties together discrete topics with a theme. Written at an appropriate level of understanding for those new to the world of abstract mathematics, it limits depth of coverage and areas covered to topics of g...

**Some Mathematical Models from Population Genetics: École d'Été de Probabilités de Saint-Flour XXXIX-2009 free pdf by Alison Etheridge (auth.)**

This work reflects sixteen hours of lectures delivered by the author at the 2009 St Flour summer school in probability. It provides a rapid introduction to a range of mathematical models that have their origins in theoretical population genetics. The mode...

**Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Field Theory and Perturbative String Theory free pdf by Hisham Sati, Hisham Sati, Urs Schreiber (ed.)**

Conceptual progress in fundamental theoretical physics is linked with the search for the suitable mathematical structures that model the physical systems. Quantum field theory (QFT) has proven to be a rich source of ideas for mathematics for a long time. ...

**Rigor and Structure free pdf by John P. Burgess**

While we are commonly told that the distinctive method of mathematics is rigorous proof, and that the special topic of mathematics is abstract structure, there has been no agreement among mathematicians, logicians, or philosophers as to just what either o...

**Thermodynamic Formalism: The Mathematical Structure of Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics free download by David Ruelle**

Reissued in the Cambridge Mathematical Library this classic book outlines the theory of thermodynamic formalism....

**Visual Basic® 2005 for Programmers: Deitel® Developer Series download pdf by Harvey M. Deitel, Paul J. Deitel**

Written for C#, C++, Java or other-high level language programmers, this book applies the Deitel signature live-code approach to teaching programming and explores Microsoft's Visual Basic language and the new .NET 2.0 in depth. The book is updated for Vis...

**The Medical Student’s Guide to the Plain Chest Film free download by Edwin Donnelly**

This book is designed to provide the medical student a simple yet systemized approach to interpreting the plain chest radiograph. The book teaches the normal anatomy as well as a systematic approach that can (and should) be used to evaluate every chest fi...

**What’s So Good About Biodiversity?: A Call for Better Reasoning About Nature’s Value free download by Donald S. Maier (auth.)**

There has been a deluge of material on biodiversity, starting from a trickle back in the mid-1980's. However, this book is entirely unique in its treatment of the topic. It is unique in its meticulously crafted, scientifically informed, philosophical exam...

**Processing of Solid–Liquid Suspensions free download by P. Ayazi Shamlou (Eds.)**

At some stage in most process operations solids and liquids are brought into contact for processing. How they behave in these situations is of great importance to the process as a whole. Based on the collective experience of international industrialists a...

**International Organizations and Development, 1945–1990 pdf free by Marc Frey, Sönke Kunkel, Corinna R. Unger (eds.)**

This is a textbook for a one-term course whose goal is to ease the transition from lower-division calculus courses to upper-division courses in linear and abstract algebra, real and complex analysis, number theory, topology, combinatorics, and so on. Without such a "bridge" course, most upper division instructors feel the need to start their courses with the rudiments of logic, set theory, equivalence relations, and other basic mathematical raw materials before getting on with the subject at hand. Students who are new to higher mathematics are often startled to discover that mathematics is a subject of ideas, and not just formulaic rituals, and that they are now expected to understand and create mathematical proofs. Mastery of an assortment of technical tricks may have carried the students through calculus, but it is no longer a guarantee of academic success. Students need experience in working with abstract ideas at a nontrivial level if they are to achieve the sophisticated blend of knowledge, disci pline, and creativity that we call "mathematical maturity. " I don't believe that "theorem-proving" can be taught any more than "question-answering" can be taught. Nevertheless, I have found that it is possible to guide stu dents gently into the process of mathematical proof in such a way that they become comfortable with the experience and begin asking them selves questions that will lead them in the right direction.
